Micro-needling

Micro-needling using the SkinPen Precision device is a safe, in-office treatment that improves scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks and other skin conditions by stimulating your skin’s natural ability to repair itself.

Micro-needling is a technique that creates hundreds of temporary microscopic channels or openings in the skin without ablation or introduction of thermal energy.

These fractionated injuries stimulate the body’s natural repair and healing process which stimulates production of new collagen and elastin. This treatment is safe for all skin types, and promotes quick, scar-free healing with no significant downtime.

The SkinPen Precision device is extremely versatile and can be used on all parts of the body: face, neck, decolletage, arms, hand, legs, abdomen and back. This versatility makes it especially helpful when addressing acne scars on the back and stretch marks on the body.

The depth of the SkinPen needles can be adjusted which allows the provider to modify treatments based on each patient’s skin and needs. Patients with uneven skin-tone and fine lines may see noticeable results after just one treatment, however, those looking to soften deeper wrinkles and scars may require several treatments. For anti-aging, we recommend an initial series of 3 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart, followed by one maintenance treatment every 5-6 months after that to maintain results. There is no way to stop the aging process, however, we can slow it down by continuing to stimulate new collagen production. You may start to notice improvement in skin texture and the overall appearance of the skin within a few weeks, however, collagen production will continue to take place over the next several months producing a further tightening effect. Individual results will vary based on your age, skin condition and skin type.

Patients typically tolerate micro-needling very well; many report little or no discomfort during the procedure, however, since the skin is being penetrated there will be some mild effects afterwards. These effects will vary based on needle depth used and intensity of treatment. Common side effects following treatment include mild to moderate swelling, redness, and skin peeling which usually resolves within 7-10 days. Your medical professional will discuss the best options and treatment plan for you during a consultation.
